Gene Del Vecchio
Gene Del Vecchio is an independent consultant with a broad range of assignments, although his specialties are brand strategy, advertising, and research.
Gene offers a unique perspective on the business world in general, having worked on the client side, the agency side, as researcher, as strategist, as employee, and as part of management. Over his 30+ year career, he has worked across many business categories and with brand-name companies including Disney, General Mills, IBM, Kraft Foods, Mattel, Microsoft, Nestle, Pacific Bell, and Paramount Pictures, among others.
Gene learned much about business ethics while working for 17 years at Ogilvy and Mather where he held a seat on the executive committee and shared responsibility for office stewardship, profts and losses, hiring and firing. Company morale was part of his management role and his experience contributed to his book, A Knight's Code of Business, How to Achieve Character and Competence in the Corporate World, which offers practical guidelines for ethics in business and in dealing with employees.
Gene's first book was Creating Ever-Cool, which helped marketers develop brands that kids would love and parents would appreciate.
Gene is a guest speaker at various conferences. He has received several advertising industry Effies, a David Ogilvy award, and WPP's prestigious Atticus Award, all given for his contributions toward effective brand strategy. Gene holds an MBA from USC and a BA, Phi Beta Kappa, from UCLA.
